SIT Pune Hosts 200 Akshara International School Students for Hands‑On Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day

In a lively celebration of innovation and young entrepreneurship, the Entrepreneurship Promotion & Innovation Cell (EPIC) at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) Pune welcomed 200 students from Akshara International School, Pune, to its campus few days ago. The visit combined hands‑on learning, technology demonstrations and a spirited entrepreneurship competition that showcased the creativity of the visiting students.

The day opened with a guided campus tour that introduced students to SIT’s academic environment and facilities. The tour set the stage for one of the visit’s most engaging segments: a demonstration session at the Infosys Maker’s Lab. There, the students observed live demonstrations highlighting the latest advances in technology and makerspace tools — an experience organisers said was designed to inspire curiosity and illustrate practical applications of classroom learning.

“The Maker’s Lab demonstrations were a real eye‑opener for our students,” a teacher from Akshara International School commented. “They left excited about the possibilities of technology and innovation.”

The highlight of the visit was an entrepreneurship‑themed competition in which student teams pitched original ideas aimed at solving real‑world problems. The competition encouraged teamwork, creative thinking and basic business reasoning. Several inventive concepts were presented, and judges selected the best team for a special award in recognition of their outstanding idea and presentation.

Organisers credited the smooth running and success of the event to the guidance and leadership of senior SIT faculty, including Dr. Deepali Vora (Deputy Director), Dr. Sashikala Mishra (Head of the Computer Science & Engineering department) and Dr. Bhavna Ambudkar (Head, EPIC Cell). Acknowledging their role, EPIC extended heartfelt thanks to the three faculty members as well as to the EPIC coordinators whose planning and dedication made the day possible.

“At Entrepreneurship Promotion & Innovation Cell — SIT Pune, we believe in nurturing the spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership among students,” said an EPIC spokesperson. “Events like these reaffirm our mission of fostering young talent and empowering future leaders.”

The collaborative visit strengthened ties between SIT and Akshara International School while offering students an early, practical taste of innovation and entrepreneurship — skills organisers say are crucial for tomorrow’s leaders. Plans for future collaborative outreach events were also hinted at by EPIC coordinators, who emphasized continued engagement with school students across the region.
