Why is one person sad and another happy? Why is one person joyous and prosperous and another poor and miserable? Why is one person a success while another an abject failure?
The answer to these questions is very simple. The secret is the marvellous, miracle-working power of your subconscious mind. This is the last place most people would look for, which is the reason why very few people discover it.
Conscious and subconscious are merely two spheres of activity within one’s mind. The conscious mind is the reasoning sphere that chooses and makes all your decisions. On the other hand, involuntary functions like breathing and functioning of the heart are carried out by the subconscious mind.
So, how exactly does our subconscious mind work?
We are like a captain navigating a ship. The captain should give the right orders or, the ship would wreck. Similarly, we must right orders to our subconscious mind which governs and controls all our experiences.
It is a universal truth that the subconscious mind accepts what is impressed upon it or what we consciously believe. It does not reason things as our conscious mind does. It is like a bed of soil that accepts any kind of seed be it good or bad.
Every thought is a cause, and every condition is an effect. The law of life is the law of belief. A belief is a thought of your mind. This is the principle on which hypnotism works. The person is made to believe herself to be whatever the hypnotist wants her to be.
Do not believe in things that will harm or hurt you. Believe in the power of your subconscious to heal, inspire, strengthen, and prosper you. Whatever our conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, our subconscious mind will accept and begin to pass.
Esdaille was a Scottish surgeon who practiced in Bengal during the 1840s. This was before ether or other modern methods of anaesthesia began to be used. Between 1843 and 1846, he performed some 400 surgical operations under mental anaesthesia only. Patients said they felt very little pain and none of them died during the surgery.
Our thoughts become our experiences.
Hippolyte Bernheim was a professor of medicine in France who was one of the first ones to explain the effect of a physician’s suggestion to the patient by this marvellous power. He told the incident of a man whose tongue was paralyzed. Every form of treatment was tried but with no success. Then one day, the doctor announced that he had learned of a new instrument that would cure his problem. He put a pocket thermometer in the patient’s mouth. The patient imagined this was the instrument that was to save him. In a few moments, he cried out joyfully that he could once again move his tongue freely.
Now the choice is yours. Change your thoughts and you change your destiny.
